About Hemrock
Hemrock builds financial models for founders and investors, and the software and help that go with them. Here is who is behind it and what the work is.
Hemrock builds financial models. Founders use them to plan a business and raise a round, venture funds use them to forecast a fund and report to LPs. The models are spreadsheets, Excel and Google Sheets, with every cell open and every formula documented. The software, the workshops, and the advisory all serve that same work.
Who is behind Hemrock
If you searched for who is Hemrock, the short answer is one person. That person is me, Taylor Davidson. I have built financial models since 1998, and I have done it under Hemrock, formerly Foresight, for twenty years.
Hemrock is not a studio, a fund, or a company with a sales team. It is a small set of models I keep current, the software that grew out of them, and the email I answer when you write in. You are not talking to a support queue.

Built to edit
Most people point AI at a blank sheet and ask it to build a model from scratch. I think that is backwards. An AI writing the structure from nothing gets the mechanics right and the logic wrong, and you have no easy way to tell which parts are which.
So the models here start from a proven structure: the sheet layout, the formulas, and the checks that catch an error before it moves a decision. You and your AI edit from there, and you verify the output before you trust it. That is the whole approach, which is why every model is open, documented, and licensed for you to take apart.
The belief underneath it comes from doing the work for twenty years. A model is a way to write down how a business actually works, and the fastest route to a correct one is a structure that already holds up. Starting from a blank sheet spends your time on the part a proven model already did, and leaves less of it for the part that matters, which is understanding the business.
