How to fix a blank revenue forecast

tl;dr, Check your acquisitions and conversions.

Check the Growth and Conversion inputs on Get Started. Usually you've input prices but haven't set acquisitions or conversions, so there are no units (users, customers, subscribers, clients) flowing through to generate revenues.

Start with the Growth inputs

On the Revenues sheet, check the Growth section for acquisitions. Then check the conversion percentage assumptions on Get Started and the detailed forecasts of users, customers, subscribers, etc. on Revenues to see if converted sales are flowing through.

That usually solves it. If not, check that the line where revenues link into Forecast is using a revenues category (dropdown, column D).

Continue through Get Started inputs

Still blank? Review the assumptions on Get Started and track through Revenues to find where in the Growth -> Conversion -> Retention -> Revenues build the flow breaks.

The math

Revenues = Units per period * Price per unit per period.

For example:

  • Subscription revenues = active subscribers that month * monthly price
  • Transaction revenues = orders * average order value

If revenues aren't showing up, usually you have the price set but no units flowing through.
